Many of us will seek professional help because we feel like a victim of what’s happening to us, and that we are powerless to change things. Indeed, it’s a good idea to begin your healing with the guidance of an experienced practitioner in many cases, but that doesn’t need to be forever. Most of my clients had already been to doctors and psychologists, and they tried hypnotherapy as a last resort. Happily, it works for the majority of them.
When people face anxiety, they might try medical or complementary therapy. Some will try more alternative therapies. Some might make headway, or they might try it all and still feel themselves sinking into quick sand. In most cases, much of that outcome will depend upon your readiness for change.
The key to this is understanding that there is no magic pill. The way you feel is a result of the information you’ve taken on board, consciously, and subconsciously, to this point in time. So, you need to untrain your brain by releasing it from outdated thoughts and sensations, and creating new patterns to follow at the same time. We explore this in the course.
As long as you are ready for change, you may be able to revive your own emotional wellness and help yourself out of trouble, or, shorten the often ‘umbilical cord relationship’ that develops between client and therapist, and maintain a state of wellness, on your own.
The caveat of course behind this work, as with any non-medical therapy for resolving emotional conditions, is that you must be of normal mental functioning, and not be experiencing suicidal feelings or be classified in the psychotic realm of diseases, such as bipolar or schizophrenia as two examples.
Outside of that, there are no rules for what type of therapy works for one person over another, because there are too many variables.
I have worked with all types of clients, from doctors and psychologists to plumbers and builders, to academics, creative people, small business owners, farmers, entrepreneurs, office workers, high school kids, mums and dads, and more. I’ve assisted these clients with a range of conditions, from eating disorders to alcohol addiction, smoking, nail biting, all types of phobias, grief and loss, low confidence issues, anger management, childhood abuse, relationship problems, physical and emotional traumas, reactive depression, and of course, crippling anxiety, to name a few. In this course, we focus on anxiety, although you will see that quite often, anxiety is linked other items on this list.
If you can relate to any of this, understand that are many, many people walking around with limiting beliefs, negative emotions and detrimental behaviours, and I believe that most of them can transform those issues without drugs or severe lifestyle restriction, as my clients have, as long as they fit within the scope of normal mental functioning.
